Perrino & Shaltout Receive Postdoctoral Mentor/Scholar Awards

Dr. Fred Perrino, Biochemistry and Hossam Shaltout, Hypertension & Vascular Research Center both received awards from the WFU Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the WFU Postdoctoral Association.

Dr. Perrino was awarded the 2010 WFU Postdoctoral Mentor of the Year Award for his outstanding contributions as a mentor to our postdoctoral scholars, and his role in creating a rich environment for research and training. His dedication, high standard of mentoring, and enthusiasm has set an important example for our faculty and postdoctoral scholars. The Postdoctoral Mentor of the Year Award recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated exceptional ability in guiding the academic and/or professional growth of his/her postdoctoral trainees.

Dr. Shaltout was awarded the 2010 WFU Postdoctoral Fellow of the Year Award for his outstanding research, scholarship, and service to the university. The Postdoctoral Scholar of the Year Award is designed to honor the achievements of a postdoctoral scholar in residence at Wake Forest University.

A special event in recognition of this honor was held on April 6, 2011.
